Leaver Penalty?
Is there ANY reason why Arenanet has not added a penalty for people who leave RA teams because they're searching for that "perfect build"?
If you want a perfect build you should go to TA.
In other game's theres a penalty if you leave a game, leaving you unable to jump right back in and leave again! Why is there not such a thing for guild wars?
"By leaving this match early you will be subject to a penalty of being unable to join any other PvP matches for five minutes, are you sure you want to leave?"
Would be a godsend for those of us who enjoy RA.

but on the point, Ra is broken because people are retarded nothing more nothing less, and i don't want to stick around with a IW warrior for example.

Well, I sometimes leave RA teams. I just don't have the patience necessary to cope with mending Wammos or Monks relying on healing breeze and res signets if the regen healing fails =_=

Because... ITS A GAME!
Get over it.
If anything there should be a filter on RA to stop people having Orison of healing and Power attack on the same skill bar.

while it is annoying to have leavers, and i would apprecate some repercusions for leavers, from the numerous other threads there are problems for this, as others have pointed out those that get disconnected should not be punished, if they aren't then leavers will disconnect themselves.
i think the solution to this is as other threads have suggested to either remove glad points alltogether or reduce them so people dont leave

For god's sake, you don't even need to search to see that there are already loads of topics on this issue.

Sticky one then.
I don't see why "I don't like his build" is a good reason to leave the team and force people to go through four or five matches to find one where no one leaves. I mean hell, I don't like being put with a warrior who uses Frenzy and Healing Signet at the same time either, but that's what makes it random - random skills, random players, random level of skill. And think about it this way, if there was a penalty for leaving, sometimes the newbs would be on the team against you - giving you someone to wail on, and we all know thats more fun than "doors open" *YOU WIN* because the entire other team left.

Just FYI, the game already knows how to distinguish between leavers and disconnects. I see no reason why that poses a problem anymore.

Cause people can fake a DC if necessary, just unplug cable and GW won't so the difference. So the leaving penalty is not an option.

Might i remind those who leave RA matches due to the fact that they don't like other player's build....RA = Random Arena....random players, random skills, random builds.
There is no such thing as a perfect build there will ALWAYS be a counter to another build, heck i run the most random build in RA, E/W with sword, D/E caster, E/Mo Healer, these are usual build and guess what, i've gotten a majority of my glad points from using these random builds. If you don't like playing along side with wammos using mending and monks using healing breeze..i can only just ask you this one question..What exactly are you doing in RANDOM arena then??

If you use the windows Task Manager to close the gw.exe process, it will register as a disconnect, so...
People could actually bypass that.

Leavers want to gain time, not to loose it.
Getting in windows, popping the TM, closing GW among all others processes, then laucnhing it again, typing your password, choose your character, then load RA, then enter a new battle is certainly not worth the hassle.

It's easier than you think.
You can use -password to baypass the password.
Then keep the task manager opened.
Login in and getting to an arena may be 1..3 minutes, even less.
And a fight may last more than 5.
So they will still save time.

Wow.... I didn't know killing the process would register as a disconnect. Don't ask why I didn't think that, I just didn't. Haha.
Anyways... I do think that perhaps what is needed in RA more than a penalty, is a complete revamp. ArenaNet took a long hard look at Heroes Ascent, and now I think its time to take one at Random Arenas. Maybe take it in a new direction.
Instead of penalizing players for leaving, just attempt to address the issues as to WHY they leave so often. Perhaps if the 'problem is fixed', we wont have so many leavers.

I think that's a clever idea too, Counciler.
Removing gladiator points would help, as would a disconnect penalty, as would replacing the current RA with a new version.

Locking this thread, and all the other "Fix Leavers" threads in Sardelac, for the time being. When the new system is revealed, we'll look at it, look at these threads, and see if they need reopened or not. Until then, let's all be patient and see what we get.
